The gardens at Cedar Grove were reputedly laid out by Andrew Michaux, the renewed botanist who had designed the gardens at Middleton Place in Charleston, SC.
The famous English boxwoods of Cedar Grove were sold during the Great Depression to the Rockefeller family and planned in the gardens of the Governor’s Palace in Williamsburg, VA.
