House history

The original Richard C Jackson house was built in 1850 for Mr. Jackson, who was the general manager of the East TN and GA Railroad. During the Civil War, the home became known as the Frank Ramsey Hospital.

Interestingly enough, Mr. Jackson lost the home to Nathaniel Bacon over a bet over the election of Grover Cleveland in the late 1800s. Mr. Bacon gifted the home to his wife in 1909.
